Song Dog Serenade

Song Dog Serenade formed in the Fall of 2012 to perform as a trio for a Bluegrass Showcase in Billings, Montana. From those early song selections their repertoire has grown into a long list of traditional and contemporary Bluegrass/Americana music along with original songs.

The current band members are: Scott Moore, vocals and guitar, Mike Blohm, vocals, banjo and dobro, Paddy Moore, vocals and upright bass, Ed Pierson, vocals and fiddle, and Trent Indreland, mandolin and vocals. They are known for their unique arrangements, musicianship and signature three and four part harmonies. It has been said that they play like they mean it, and they believe that makes for a howling good time.

A few little known secrets about the band are:

Mike, Ed and Trent have been playing Bluegrass music since they were youngsters and have been in many bands over the years.

Mike Blohm built his first banjo during high school because he wanted to learn to play and he couldn't find one in the Billings area to buy. Occasionally he still plays that fine banjo to this day for it's unique sound. Mike has also built over 10 mandolins. He plays mandolin and guitar as well as dobro.

Ed Pierson played in fiddle contests throughout Montana in his younger days and brought home the championship trophy many times. Ed also plays guitar, bass, mandolin and octave mandolin.

Trent Indreland has played in several bands since his college days, Bluegrass and non-Bluegrass. He is the sound technician, photographer and videographer for the band. Throughout the year Trent will be hired to run sound for other bands and large venue events.

Paddy and Scott Moore met and played in a Country Rock band decades ago. Almost ten years ago they discovered Bluegrass music and haven't looked back since.

Scott Moore is a singer/songwriter and the band plays a few of his originals.

Paddy Moore began playing music as a youngster, too, but won't divulge which instrument she started playing on. The band members can't even get her to tell them.

Trent and Ed trade off Saturday nights hosting a radio program on Yellowstone Public Radio called Strings and Things. They are often sought after for their music trivia knowledge. You can catch their shows on your radio dial at 91.7 fm or via YPR on-line.

As you can see, Song Dog Serenade comes from a diverse background which makes their song list quite interesting and always with Bluegrass at the heart.
